Apeiranthos

Apeiranthos, a traditional mountain village, is renowned for its stone-built houses, marble-paved alleys, and picturesque squares. Notable attractions include five museums and the 6th-century Byzantine Panagia Drosiani Church, which is among the earliest Christian monasteries in the Balkans.

Filoti

Situated on the slopes of Mount Zas, Filoti is a picturesque village characterized by its cube-shaped houses and narrow, stone-paved streets. Notable landmarks include the Panagia Protothroni Church, the largest Byzantine church on Naxos. Additionally, the nearby Tragaia area is home to several historic churches, offering further opportunities for exploration.

Sagri

Sagri, consisting of three neighborhoods, is notable for its Venetian palaces and traditional windmills. The plain adjacent to Kato Sagri, often referred to as “Little Mystras,” contains numerous Byzantine churches. Additionally, the sanctuaries of Demeter and Apollo on Gyroulas Hill are significant sites that should not be overlooked.

Agios Prokopios

Agios Prokopios, a popular holiday destination, is renowned for its long sandy beach and crystal-clear waters. Visitors can also explore the picturesque small church of Agios Prokopios situated by the beachside.

Agia Anna

South of Chora, Agia Anna is a seaside resort with a long sandy seashore, making it one of the most popular beaches on Naxos.

Galini

Nestled in a fertile plain, Galini is known for the impressive fortified Monastery of Ipsilotera. Nearby Engares village is surrounded by lush greenery and freshwater streams.

Melanes

Melanes is a beautiful hamlet with water springs. Visit the 7th century BC Kouros of Melanes statue, the Palace of the Jesuits, and the Venetian palaces of Marco Sanudo, Mavrogeni, and Frangopoulos.

Plaka

Situated on the western side of the island, Plaka is known for its picturesque cove and beautiful beach. Visitors can also explore the ruins of an ancient tower at Palaiopyrgos, located near Agios Matthaios beach.

Apollonas

Apollonas, a seaside village located on the northeast coast of Naxos, is renowned for its fish tavernas and scenic harbor views. In close proximity to Apollonas, there is an unfinished Kouros statue from the 6th century BC, measuring 10.45 meters in height. This statue is believed to represent either the god Dionysus or Apollo.

The Greek Liqueur Made of Leaves

Kitro of Naxos, made from citron leaves, is a unique and aromatic spirit. Known as the driest and strongest Greek liqueur with 36% alcohol content, it comes in three main versions: white (strongest), green, and yellow. Kitro of Naxos is a PDO product, enjoyed for its delicate citrus aromas and pleasant taste, perfect for digestion or cocktails.
